It is an unfortunate fact that parts of our industry are not as honest as they should be.

We have lost count of the number of our customers who find out they are not receiving what they have been told they are buying.

With Polythene, down or over gauging is common practice as are underweight rolls, different sizes or a completely different specification altogether. Combined these factors only increase your costs.

There is always the potential to look for cost saving options or alternatives solutions but you can be assured that, as the customer, whatever you choose, you will always receive and be charged for what you ordered.

Corrugated Cartons are no different, following the unprecedented shortage of supply situation which in turn led to number of increases in board costs since 2021.

Because of this, the decision made by a number of suppliers was to reduce the board grade. This not only helped speed up deliveries but it also offset some of the increases being imposed. If you have noticed your boxes are crushing when they didn’t before, this could be the cause. The quality of the paper used in the manufacture of cartons, especially the fluting, remains of paramount importance.

It is your product inside the box, whether it is customer facing it deserves to be protected in the best possible way within your available budget.

The phrases “fit for purpose” or “it does the job” are common place in the Packaging world. In literal terms, this means that on a basic level the product will suffice but what it does not give you is any confidence you are buying what you are paying for.

If you have any concerns, we offer testing facilities that enable us to correctly analyse existing specifications. It is amazing how often large discrepancies are discovered but it also allows competitive and like for like prices to be offered.

If you have concerns as to the quality of the packaging you are using, whatever the product, please feel free to ask us to undertake a no obligation testing analysis and report on the true specification - what have you got to lose?
