Recycling

The majority of the products we manufacture / distribute are produced using recycled material. Within our product range for plastic and paper products, you will find eco-responsible options all of which are fully recyclable.

As part of our enhanced producer responsibility, we can now offer collection of palletised uncontaminated waste polythene which we will then recycle in house and use to meet current legislation in respect of the current 30% recycled content, we also offer a collection service for the cardboard cores found on every roll of polythene used.

This not only saves you money in disposal, waste collection or recycling costs, it also benefits the world by these items potentially being continually recycled in a closed loop.

We were involved from the outset in the British Plastics Federations representations to the Government during the consultancy period and subsequently the draft legislation. Unfortunately, many of the valid objections raised by those involved were ignored. For example, food contact material, thin gauges and of course, the inevitable shortage of suitable recycled material.

Since the introduction of the PPT the widely predicted shortage of material has proved to be justified the result of which is that prices for recycled material now often exceeds that of prime virgin material.

By definition, recycled Polymer is exactly "what it says on the tin" with various grades of Polythene being combined resulting in potential quality issues and no assurance of consistency. Third parties involved in the reprocessing of Polymer waste are obviously unable to determine the origin hence what is available comprises different specifications all with different qualities meaning that, as an example, if clarity is a requirement this cannot be guaranteed.

Whilst we reprocess our own waste, the quantities available are inevitably limited and we do, for requirements that can be satisfied by uncertain material quality, "buy in" from the reprocessing sector.

The industry standard for waste material produced during the extrusion process averages just 5%. From that it becomes obvious as to why there is already a shortage of recycled material, a situation that will inevitably worsen until soluations are found.
